Ivy Omere (actor/playwright) is best known for her critically acclaimed role as Rosalind in As You Like It with the English Shakespeare Company, directed by internationally acclaimed, multiple-award-winning director Michael Bogdanov. A glowing review of Ivy’s performance as Rosalind is recorded in Shakespeare Survey 52 by the Cambridge University Press. Among other notable roles, Ivy performed in an extended run of The Three Musketeers at the Young Vic, a two-time winner of the Olivier Award for outstanding theatre and also in an extended run of The Amen Corner by James Baldwin at the Tricycle Theatre. After a number of roles on the London stage and also as a guest star on primetime TV shows for the BBC, ITV and LWT, Ivy, considered by the US government as an “alien of extraordinary ability”, received an O1 Visa through which she gained access to the United States, followed by a Green Card four years later for permanent residency. As a lifetime member of the Actors Studio, Ivy has written three plays – Jenny and He Told Me Everything I Ever Did and more recently the autobiographical My Story My Voice – and has been directed at the Actors Studio by Oscar winners Ellen Burstyn and Lee Grant and more recently by Estelle Parsons.
